Kinematics

Kinematics

The TGC consists of 2 groups of axes, the grinding unit and the workhead unit. They are mounted onto a cast iron base plate. The base plate is supported by special anti-vibration pads, to avoid interferences from external sources. The grinding unit (A, W & Y-axis) controls movement of the grinding wheels. The optional W-axis determines the correct inclination angle of the grinding wheels with respect to the tool. The workhead unit (U, V, X and Z-axis) controls movement of the tool. The U-axis has dual functionality: it can be used as a positioning axis or a free-turning spindle (used when cylindrical grinding). The TTB kinematic allows the wheels to grind above or below the tool. The thermal stability of the machine components is guaranteed by the use of temperature controlled fluids.

Work-Piece clamping unit

Work-Piece clamping unit

Workpiece spindles and clamping devices are chosen according to the Customer’s needs and the application. They respond to high quality and modularity criterias.

Available components:
  • Workpiece spindle with taper for collets: W25, W20, B12
  • High precision collets (according to TTB specs)
  • Long nose collets: W25S, W20S, B15M
  • Flat nose collets: W25, W20, B15, B12
  • Hydraulic clamping
  • A hydraulic expansion clamping unit can be mounted onto the spindle.
In this case the loading is manual and it replaces the collet clamping.
  • Adapters for collets: W25->W20, W25->B15, W25->B12, W20->B12
  • Grinding wheel dressing / truing in the machine:
The dressing wheels can be mounted:
  • directly onto the spindle/adapter
  • or
  • on the wheel flange and clamped on a support-collet.
